Story
In November 2026, I’ll be taking on a once-in-a-lifetime challenge, a two week trek across Costa Rica, walking from the Pacific Ocean to the Caribbean Sea. The route will take me through dense tropical rain forests, volcanic mountains, coffee and banana plantations, and remote villages. It will also including two adrenaline-filled days of white-water rafting down the Pacuare river and nights of wild camping under the stars.
This incredible journey is organised by Discover Adventure, a trusted adventure organisation that helps people push their limits while raising funds for meaningful causes. For me, that cause is The Menopause Charity.
I began experiencing peri-menopausal symptoms in my late 30s, a time when most people, including me, aren’t even thinking about menopause. I was overwhelmed by symptoms I didn’t understand. With brain fog, insomnia, anxiety, mood swings, and a persistent feeling that something wasn’t right. I felt lost in my own body. It was frightening, confusing, and incredibly isolating.
And I’m far from alone.
Over 50% of the population will go through menopause, yet so many people do so without the support, knowledge, or the care they need. Whether it’s due to stigma, mis-information, or healthcare systems that don’t prioritise women’s health, people are suffering in silence. That has to change.
The Menopause Charity is working to do just that. They provide accessible, evidence-based information, raise awareness, and empower people to get the support they deserve, whether they’re 38 or 58.
This trek reflects the reality of menopause for many. A long, unpredictable, and often without a clear path forward, but with awareness, education, and compassion, it becomes something we can face and overcome together.
I am fully funding this trip myself. All the money I raise will go to The Menopuase Charity!
This is not a holiday! It is a demanding physical and emotional commitment that I’m training hard for, and I’m doing it to raise awareness and support for those navigating menopause, especially those who experience it early, like I did.
I’m asking for your support.
Whether it’s £5 or £50, every donation will help fund The Menopause Charity’s vital work and bring support to more people navigating menopause. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page, it truly helps.
I’ll be documenting my training, preparation, and every sweaty, tearful, awe-inspiring, and unforgettable moment of this journey. I’d love for you to follow along and be part of it.
Let’s walk together, for change, for awareness, and for every person navigating menopause in silence.
Thank you so much
