The Cotswold Challenge 20

We are a group of friends doing a challenging walk over the undulating countryside of the Cotswolds with most of us walking 20 miles and some of us 20km.

This might be a walk in the park for some, but for us we can assure you it will feel like a very challenging long way indeed!

Why are we spending our Saturday 19 August putting ourselves through a challenge like this!?

We want to celebrate MAI's 20 Year Anniversary of bringing health and hope in some of the poorest places in the world by raising £7,000 for their work. It’s a great cause that we all believe in, and one that most of us have supported since 2009.

The funds we raise will help MAI’s incredible and trusted health partners provide affordable quality healthcare for the poorest and most vulnerable people (of all faiths and none) in their communities.

They helped me get well for very little money. Poor people are treated well there. They will take care of you. (patient, Chinchpada Christian Hospital)

Sadly, few people living in extreme poverty benefit from universal health care like our NHS. The nearest clinic or hospital can often be many miles away. Paying for transport and then treatment is very hard when every day is a struggle to survive. Illness is also isolating. Unable to care for themselves or connect with their community, ill people often end up shunned and lonely when they need help most.

MAI exists to change all this by helping their partners provide affordable high quality healthcare to people who urgently need it.

You’re sponsoring us today will make a huge difference to someone in desperate need. For example, your support could:

Save the lives of severely acute malnourished children in Guinebor II hospital, Chad.

Care for people with serious health-related suffering by supporting Chinchpada Christian Hospital's enhanced palliative care team.

Support a Community Caregiver in Embo, KwaZulu-Natal to come along side someone struggling with HIV or TB, helping them to stay well.

Thank you so much for your generous support.
