Story

By running the London Marathon, I'll be supporting the incredible NHS staff and exceptional healthcare provided by Guy's and St Thomas'.

Guy’s and St Thomas have greatly impacted my life, my partner needed a kidney transplant to save her life in 2015 and we had to move from Guernsey to London for 3 months for the follow up care. We were only 21 at the time and without the support of the team at Guy’s, I don’t know how we would have coped. From staying at the hospital’s accommodation block across the road, to eating in the canteen, to chatting to the staff in the foyer, every day was made easier because of the Charity.

In 2022 my partner gave birth to our son, Theodore. Because of the complications with the kidney, we had to move to London from Guernsey again to stay at St Thomas’ Hospital when she was 32 weeks pregnant, where she and Theo could be closely monitored. Theo was born at 38 weeks and was a perfectly healthy baby boy. My partner had some complications after the birth but thanks to the team of Doctors, both at St Thomas and at Guys, she pulled through and the kidney is still working perfectly.

I owe a great deal of gratitude to Guy’s & St Thomas, without the support and care in 2015 for my partner, we wouldn’t have been able to have our Theo, and for that, there are no words I can put down to explain my gratitude.

I hope to run for the charity to raise as much money as possible so the charity can continue to support other people in need, not just from a kidney perspective, but to anyone that falls under the care of Guy’s and St Thomas.

Thank you so much for your support!
