Story
Wow- we have reached our target of £3,000 …..surely we couldn’t reach £4,000? And help even more ambulance colleagues in their time of need
We are a group of paramedic science students from the University of Suffolk who are partaking in a CPR MARATHON for a charity close to our hearts- "The ambulance staff charity- TASC"
Students will take it in turns to perform chest compressions on a mannequin continuously for a period of 24 hours in order to raise awareness of the importance of early CPR, whilst raising money for a charity that supports out colleagues in their time of need.
As Paramedic students, we learn about the mental health and psychological impacts of an ambulance career early on in our degree programme, and as such realise that the majority of NHS staff will (at some point) need to access additional support and welfare to support them when they need it.
TASC, The Ambulance Staff charity is the leading UK charity supporting current and retired Ambulance Staff and their families, regardless of role, to enhance their mental and physical well-being during times of need.
Ambulance Staff dedicate their lives to supporting and saving others. They see life at its most fragile, often dealing with tragedy on a daily basis. Sometimes they themselves are in need of care and support. Our support enhances their well-being during times of need by helping to alleviate pain, suffering and financial hardship.
As student paramedics we are all to familiar with the support sometimes required after a traumatic incident and are delighted to be able to raise money for a cause close to our hearts
