At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

A close family member was diagnosed with dementia just over 5 years ago and I have seen the impact this has had. I turn 50 this year and I wanted to challenge myself by running a marathon (something I have never done before) and try to raise some money for a good cause at the same time. I am running for the Alzheimer’s Society because they are working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives and I would like to raise money to help them achieve this. I am not an active runner and to be honest prefer going on walks with my wife. I hope to run my first marathon as close to 4 hours as possible but I know this is a tough goal.
