Story
On the shortest day of the year, I'm going to be running 110 miles along the West Highland Way to raise funds and awareness for two great causes: Children in Poverty Inverclyde and The Gerry McHugh Scholarship.
Children in Poverty Inverclyde strive to ensure that all children within Inverclyde feel valued. They provide support to vulnerable families year round, and regularly fund trips to the Hunters Quay Holiday Park for children who would otherwise not have these opportunities/experiences.
Children in Poverty Inverclyde are also running a Christmas Appeal aiming to make sure every child in the area wakes up on Christmas morning with a toy to open.
The Gerry McHugh Scholarship was launched in 2021 in memory of the former Notre Dame maths teacher who sadly passed during the pandemic. It is an annual scholarship which provides support to NDHS pupils during their journey into further education.
Gerry was an incredibly positive influence for myself and many others, if we can all be half as impactful on the lives of others as Gerry, we'll be doing alright. Both Gerry's family and the Notre Dame Community have been, and continue to be, very supportive of me, so I felt it would be appropriate to choose the scholarship for this fundraiser.
For ease of admin, this Just Giving page is set up directly for Children in Poverty Inverclyde who have generously agreed to split the proceeds 50/50 between both causes once the page has closed.
Thank you for taking the time to read this far, if you feel you'd like to share or donate to the cause any help would be massively appreciated.
Cheers!
