Story
Craig Green, Ryan Green ,Liam Bond and Matt Smith have decided to help raise money for a friend's little boy Rudy to support his ongoing journey .
As a team we will be taking part in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge on the 12th of September 2026.
Supporting Rudy’s Journey
Rudy , was born with an extremely rare condition called bilateral anophthalmia, meaning he was born without eyes. Further testing revealed that Rudy also has a rare SOX2 gene mutation, which has brought additional challenges including hearing loss, dysphagia (an unsafe swallow), global developmental delay, and complex medical needs.
Despite everything he faces, Rudy is the happiest little boy you could ever meet. His smile lights up every room, and he approaches every challenge with a strength and determination that inspires everyone around him. To all his family he is their "little rainbow warrior."
Life for Rudy involves far more than most people could ever imagine. He currently attends between three and ten appointments every week, including hospital appointments, clinics, therapies and home visits. Rudy receives physiotherapy, occupational therapy and additional specialist support to help him reach his full potential.
Due to his dysphagia, Rudy is currently fed through a nasogastric (NG) tube and will eventually require a gastrostomy button (G-tube) to ensure he can safely receive the nutrition he needs. Everyday tasks that many families take for granted often require additional planning, equipment, appointments and support.
Alongside the emotional challenges of caring for a child with complex needs, there are also significant financial pressures. The costs of specialist therapies, medical supplies, travel to appointments and equipment quickly add up, and many of the things that could make life easier for Rudy and his family are not fully funded.

More Than Fundraising
It is about raising awareness of bilateral anophthalmia, SOX2 syndrome and the realities faced by families caring for children with complex disabilities.
One of our hopes for the future is to help increase awareness of these rare conditions and encourage conversations around earlier detection, diagnosis and support for families. No family should feel alone when navigating a life-changing diagnosis.
