We’re the only charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK and Channel Islands. That’s why we help children who’ve been abused to rebuild their lives, we protect children at risk, and we find the best ways of preventing child abuse from ever happening.

Story

Last year I went to a fund-raising event and was humbled by the time, effort and commitment put in by the fundraisers.

I was so impressed with their dedication that I wanted to do SOMETHING!

Having a young family makes you aware of how cruel the world can be sometimes, so I decided the NSPCC was the charity I wanted to support.

Their work protecting children in the worst possible conditions can make a real difference to those individuals to the next generation as a whole.

Half-marathons have always been a struggle for me as when I was a child, I underwent many procedures for 'Legg–Calvé–Perthes disease' which I had in my right hip. The hospital told me at the age of 7 that I would probably struggle to walk unaided and that I would be facing an early adult hip-replacement.

At present I battle with mild osteoarthritis, so I thought that if there is ever a time to try two 'half-marathons' in a row it’s now!

I've trained to a point that I now feel confident in starting my fund-raising and I am super confident in completing (getting around!) my first (and possibly last!) London Marathon.

Please help me where you can, give me a beep if you see me on the road, or even better, a fiver or something more if you can afford it. This would be gratefully received x

The NSPCC is the leading children's charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK and Channel Islands. We help children who have been abused to rebuild their lives, protect those at risk, and find the best ways of preventing abuse from ever happening.

Every child deserves the best possible chance to rebuild their life after abuse

That’s why we’re here. That's what drives all our work. And that’s why – as long as there’s abuse – we will fight for every childhood.
