Story

Starting on November 1st 2024, I'm running 100km a week for a year to raise funds for Wellbeing Works, an amazing charity based in Dundee. Mental health, anxiety and depression and conditions incredibly close to my heart and any help, a donation or simply spreading the word about the amazing provisions that they have available, will be so gratefully received.

Wellbeing Works is a mental health charity that has provided support for people who face mental health challenges in Dundee for almost 100 years.

They with people who experience challenges like anxiety and depression, and some more serious and longer terms mental health conditions like bi-polar disorders and schizophrenia. They work with anyone over the age of 16 who lives in Dundee.

They type of people that Wellbeing Works helps and supports are people who are generally quite isolated, they have lost confidence and motivation, and are often really anxious about starting new things, meeting new people, and worry about leaving their home and using public transport.

Wellbeing Works helps people to overcome these challenges by providing one to one support, and by helping them to set goals that will improve their mental health and wellbeing. Their group activities include arts and crafts, walking, photography, relaxation, and local history. They also have a range of outdoors activities including a few walking groups, an allotment on The Law, and looking after the gardens at HMS Unicorn, The V&A and the Train Station. Being involved in these types of activities helps people to feel more included, have something to look forward to, build confidence, and helps them to make new friends. They also run courses and workshops that help people to understand their mental health and learn how to manage anxiety and keep well.
