Craig's flipper fundraiser for Bolton Community Kitchen

Craig Keatley is raising money for Bolton Community Kitchen

10 year anniversary events

We are based at Bolton Rugby Club BL1 3AW and on a Wednesday evening provide a 2, sometimes 3 course hot meal and drinks to members of the local community. We feed anywhere between 60 and 90 (occasionally more) elderly, vulnerable or homeless people who come to us for support and friendship. We also provide clothing, toiletries, food parcels, sleeping bags when needed and offer emotional and practical help where possible from our wonderful team of volunteers. We hold an annual Christmas party with full dinner and entertainment for our guests which they all thoroughly look forward to. Each person receives a gift as a part of our Bolton Community Kitchen family. The charity also have allotments on Avenue St BL1 3AW where our guests can come to spend time in the outdoors and work alongside our brilliant team of allotment volunteers. Learning how to grow flowers and food and being in touch with nature.

Story

In 2015, I cycled 200 miles in one go. This was the start of my extreme events and honestly changed my life. I’ve flipper walked 31 miles, ran 50 consecutive days 10 miles or more, I’ve ran 40 miles in slippers and so much more. I’m now retiring later this year to give my body a complete rest. Before then I’m going to finish on a high with a 62 mile walk and with some flipper/slipper events.

I wanted to raise some much needed funds for a local charity who do so much for the elderly, vulnerable and the homeless around Bolton. They offer support, food/toiletries parcels and also give people hot meals.
