Marathon Des Sables · 4 April 2025

Proudly serving the community of East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire since 1987, we provide specialist palliative & end-of-life care to people facing a terminal illness. We're committed to giving families choices about the care they receive, providing the best support at home & at the Hospice.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I had never encountered a Hospice until 2016, when my Dad required palliative care due to terminal cancer. While those were some of the most difficult 5 weeks of our family's life, the care, support and dignity that my Dad received from the team at Thames Hospice provided great comfort. Through my fundraising I have had the opportunity to hear many families who have shared similar stories and experiences with the amazing team at Thames Hospice.

So for my 5th fundraising trek I'm back in the Sahara (Trek 1 in 2019!) doing the world famous Marathon Des Sables. It's 9 days trekking 250km (155m) in the desert, over 6 stages. Check it out below.

The event starts on 4th April 2025, which would have been my Dads 70th birthday, so there's a nice coincidence to all this.

In the 4 previous treks we have raised nearly £40k. If you have supported me before - thank you! If you are a new supporter - your support means everything to me, my family and all the team at Thames Hospice.

Thank you for supporting me again or for the first time. Every penny raised goes to Thames Hospice.
