Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Early in 2023 my wife Katie was diagnosed with breast cancer. This devastating news shook our family to the core. As we entered into the realms of the unknown, everything for us stood still as we tried to process our new reality. The proceeding months have been consumed by hospital visits, consultations, tests, treatments, surgery and more.
Each hospital visit often answers one question for us, but undoubtedly generate more questions and uncertainty around something else. Leaving the hospital with immense levels of fear and anxiety is not uncommon for us both.
Maggie’s have been an amazing resource for us throughout our journey, and visits to their centre quickly became part of our routine leaving the hospital. Not only have they provided a much needed source of tea and coffee over the past +12 months, they’ve given Katie and I invaluable support in processing our thoughts, by providing us access to their experience and expertise. Their counselling provides us support when and where it’s needed the most.
The statistics around cancer are shocking and it is now suggested 1 in 2 of us will at some point in our lifetime be given a diagnosis. This not only impacts the individual but also their loved ones. Maggie’s is available to all of these individuals touched in someway by cancer.
This resource comes at no cost for those that use it, but the value it brings to those that need it is phenomenal.
I’ll be completing this years Ride the North event in support of this wonderful charitable organisation. Taking place on 24th August, I’ll be cycling 100 miles around the picturesque Angus countryside, hopefully in sunny conditions this year.
I’d like to take this opportunity to ask for a donation which will allow Maggie’s to continue to provide the essential support they provide people touched by cancer. These centres, including the tremendous people who work in them rely heavily on fundraising. Myself and many others would be hugely appreciative of any donation.
Thank you so much for your support in helping me reach (and exceed?) my target.
Craig
