5km a day throughout December

Our charity was set up in 2010 and encompasses 4 Dementia Cafés and a Befriending Service. The Cafés offer a welcoming, safe place for people living with dementia and their carers. The Befriending Service supports those lonely and isolated in our communities.

Story

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running 5km a day throughout the month of December to raise funds for The Living Well Project.

The Living Well Project was set up in 2010, with the aim of supporting isolated and vulnerable people in the communities of North Aberdeen. The charity embraces two strands of care within the community; The Living Well Befriending Service and The Living Well Dementia Cafes.

The Living Well Cafes in particular are close to my heart. They provide a welcoming, safe and supportive place for people living with dementia and their caregivers.

My mother, Margaret, who suffered from Alzheimers, and sadly passed away in November, was a regular visitor to the cafe located at Brimmond Church (Newhills) before her condition deteriorated. My father would often take her to the cafe, and she had a wonderful time there. He has mentioned on a number of occasions how supportive and caring the volunteers were, and how mum loved getting up to dance (with a bit of encouragement) and would enjoy a cup of tea and a fancy piece. It also provided Dad with a bit of respite too.

If you could please help me by donating to my page and supporting this invaluable charity, it would be much appreciated.
