The Original Mourne Seven Sevens Walk · 3 August 2024

OG Cancer NI was formed specifically to benefit patients and families affected by Oesophago-Gastic Cancer in Northern Ireland. We aim to support patients and carers, raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of Oesophago-gastic cancers, fund improvements in treatments and advocate for patients.

Story

Hello everyone,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Saturday, 3rd August 2024, I will be taking part in the Mourne Seven Sevens endurance race. This challenging event covers 19 miles with an 8,500ft elevation gain, requiring me to climb all seven peaks in the Mourne Mountains that are over 700m above sea level. This is a true test of fitness, stamina, and navigational skills, and I aim to complete the course in under 10 hours.

This year, I am dedicating my race to the memory of my friend and colleague, Dave Penick, who passed away on 5th April. Dave fought a courageous battle with oesophageal cancer, and during his illness, OG Cancer NI provided incredible support to him and his family.

OG Cancer NI is a local charity that assists those affected by oesophago-gastric cancer. Their work is crucial, offering support, fostering communication, and advocating for patients and families. Early detection and awareness of symptoms can save lives, and OG Cancer NI strives to educate and support our community. Find out more about the charity here > https://ogcancerni.com/

In honour of Dave and to help others facing similar battles, I have set a goal to raise £700 for OG Cancer NI. This is £100 for each mountain I will (hopefully) succeed in climbing on Saturday 3rd August. Your contribution, no matter the size, can make a significant difference.

Please join me in supporting this worthy cause by donating to my fundraiser. Together, we can make a positive impact on the lives of those affected by oesophago-gastric cancer.

Thank you for your generosity and support.
