Craig Warmisham is raising money for The Haven Kilmacolm

Craig Warmisham-Mission trip to Indonesia

The Haven provides accommodation with Housing Support to men from the age of 17 who are involved with drug and alcohol abuse. We offer a structured programme based on Christian principles which is designed to help the residents acquire the life skills necessary for future independent living free from their addictions.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to look at my fundraising page.

My name is Craig Warmisham and I’m 50 years old from Port Glasgow, Scotland. I was brought up by a loving family but after the loss of my father I became lost and sought comfort in drugs, particularly Heroin. I spent 30 years of my life lost in addiction and over the years I have suffered with Mental Health issues and nearly lost my life on numerous occasions.

I was completely lost and it was during this time when I had reached the end of myself that a friend suggested the Haven, a Chistian rehab in Kilmacolm, Scotland. I believe God starting guiding me towards the Haven and can remember one occasion when I was in the off license looking at a sign on a billboard in Liverpool that read “Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest”. I now know that God was drawing me by his spirit to the Haven where he would reveal himself to me.

I arrived at the Haven unsure about my future but God quickly revealed himself to me and I learned to trust him more during the ten months I spent there. During this time, I have found freedom from Drugs and Alcohol and more importantly God has given me purpose in life whilst developing a passion for sharing the love of God and communicating the truth of his word.

Towards the end of my time at the Haven I was introduced to Sheryl and Novi Maatitawaer, who run King’s Kids, a children’s home in East Java, Indonesia. Sheryl and Novi house 23 children from the ages of 3 to school leaving age. The children each have their own story but generally they came to live in Kings Kids due to broken homes, poverty, abuse or abandonment. Kings Kids is a place for the children to grow up, in a secure environment where they are given and education and an opportunity to build for their future.

Sheryl and Novi’s heart to help, bless and serve these children really inspired me and after some time in prayer I felt called by God to go and support this incredible project but I cannot achieve this on my own.

I have learnt that partnership with fellow believers, including full time gospel workers, is a wonderful privilege (Philippians 1:5). Two main factors of that partnership are prayer (Philippians 1:9) and financial support (Philippians 4:18).

Please would you pray for me? That I would grow in the knowledge of and love for Christ as I seek to serve him by going to Indonesia, that I would bear much fruit as I share the love of God with the children at Kings Kids.

Also, please would you prayerfully consider supporting me financially? All my accommodation costs have been met but I need to raise a further £2000 to cover flights and daily living expenses. If this is something you might be able to help me with then please get in touch or donate through the link. Many thanks for all your support especially your prayers.

Matthew 25:40

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
