Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.

Story

The challenge -

The 4 x 4 x 48 is a challenge designed by ex - Navy Seal David Goggins, he holds the world pull up record, he has run multiple marathon/Ultra marathons and has completed many physical endurance challenges. The 2 day challenge is not just a physical test but a test of mental strength as well due to the lack of sleep.

The Charity -

I have chosen The Sepsis trust as my partners close friend suffered a personal loss earlier this year suddenly after a brief illness, shortly afterwards her niece was taken ill suddenly with Sepsis but luckily she survived due to the quick response of the medical staff. The Sepsis Trust is not a main stream charity, So raising more funds would help with the fight against Sepsis.

Fundraising is at the heart of our fight against sepsis. It raises awareness, and sparks the question: “What is sepsis? In this way, fundraising can help prevent thousands of deaths & unnecessary suffering through knowledge & awareness of the symptoms.

It also funds our vital support work, Public Awareness, Educating Health Professionals & helping people adjust to life after sepsis through accessing our Support Group network. We also lobby government to support our cause and makes vital changes in areas such as the NHS.
