The challenge -

The 4 x 4 x 48 is a challenge designed by ex - Navy Seal David Goggins, he holds the world pull up record, he has run multiple marathon/Ultra marathons and has completed many physical endurance challenges. The 2 day challenge is not just a physical test but a test of mental strength as well due to the lack of sleep.

The Charity -

I have chosen Mates in Mind as the charity supports Mental health within the construction Industry. Mental health issues in the Industry are rife with the level of stress and pressure being huge. I myself have suffered mental health issues do to work pressures, Mates in Mind look to support and help the Industry.

The confronting human cost of mental ill-health could not be ignored with suicide rates amongst construction workers more than 3 times higher the national average.

Although mental ill-health is a pervasive challenge across all UK workplaces, its negative impacts within the construction industry have become undeniable.

In 2017, Randstad reporting showed that 34% of construction workers surveyed have experienced a mental health condition in the last 12 months, and that 73% felt that their employers do not recognise the early signs of mental health problems.
