2024 is a special year of celebration for the YMCA of Greater Charlotte as we mark the 150th Anniversary of our Y serving youth and families in our wonderful community. I am humbled and honored to be in my first year as the Chair of the Board of our Greater Charlotte YMCA Association and am excited about the many ways lives are positively affected by our Y.

Education is such a personal passion of mine, and I am extremely proud of the leadership the Y has shown in promoting learning through a range of activities such as pre-school and after-school programs, camps, and initiatives like Y Readers, which is a program that inspires and engages young children in literacy, a critical need in Charlotte.

May 29, 2024 is the 150th day of our 150th year and we are celebrating through a “Day of Giving”. I ask that you learn more about the incredible ways your Y is serving so many in our region and consider giving through this site. Literally any amount would be appreciated and will directly serve families in our community. We would love to have you join as a volunteer as well. Thank you for your consideration!

The YMCA Day of Giving is a chance to change the trajectory of a child’s life through youth development programs at the Y!

There are many issues facing our community, but thankfully the Y is uniquely positioned to help meet many of these needs. In 2024:

• The Y will provide over $2 million in financial scholarships for programs like preschool, afterschool and summer camp.

• Over 3,000 children will be served with literacy instruction through programs like Y Readers, which is offered at no charge to students.

• Over 1,500 children will receive swim lessons at affordable rates for their families.
