Story

Crossroads Care Richmond and Kingston upon Thames provides vital, high-quality respite care to unpaid carers and the people they support—giving them the chance to rest, recharge, and simply breathe. For over 35 years, we have been there for local people of all ages and disabilities, standing alongside those who give so much of themselves every single day. As a registered charity and proud network partner of Carers Trust, we are part of a wider mission to support the UK’s 7 million unpaid carers—people who so often put others before themselves, at great personal cost.

Laeti and Caroline, who both have lived the reality of being carers, truly understand the emotional and physical challenges this role brings—the exhaustion, the isolation, but also the deep love and commitment. They have generously joined me in taking on the Turks 10K to raise vital funds for our charity.

Every step we take is for carers who rarely get a break. The money raised will go directly towards providing essential respite and support, helping carers find moments of rest, strength, and reassurance when they need it most.

Laeti is flying all the way from Spain especially to take part in our 10K run. Her dedication and support mean so much—not just to me, but to all the carers we are fundraising for. Every step we take together will help provide much-needed respite for those who give so much of themselves every day. Knowing that someone has gone the extra mile to join us makes each stride even more meaningful and reminds us of the power of community, friendship, and coming together for a worthy cause.

As an additonal gesture it is Caroline's 50th years young birthday on the day we run, so we have more to celebrate when we complete this.
