THE LAP – WINDERMERE ULTRA | RAISING MONEY FOR MACMILLAN 💚
Not much can be said about cancer that we aren't already aware of.
It doesn't just affect those living with the disease, facing the pain, uncertainty and often gruelling treatments that can sometimes offer little relief. It also affects the family and friends who, despite doing everything they can to support their loved ones, have to stand by and watch them go through something no one should ever have to endure.
Recently, my father-in-law was diagnosed with stage 4 oesophageal cancer. Due to the complications surrounding its location, ongoing treatment is our only course of action moving forward.
Throughout everything so far, the strength, courage and bravery he's shown have been nothing short of incredible. Watching him face this challenge has inspired me to do something positive, to give something back to the people who are helping and supporting our family through this difficult time.
That brings me to the fantastic people at Macmillan Cancer Support. They've been there for us every step of the way, providing support when it's needed most. Now, I'd like to do my bit to help them continue supporting other families facing the same fight.
Over the years, I’ve taken on multiple 10Ks, a few marathons, cycled from Manchester to Blackpool both on and off road, and even donned the boxing gloves for Ultra White Collar Boxing.
But this cause deserves a different kind of challenge. One that will push me further than ever before.
Next September, I’ll be taking on THE LAP – Windermere Ultra.
That’s 47 miles on foot, completing an anticlockwise lap of Lake Windermere in the glorious Cumbrian countryside. A serious test of physical endurance and mental resilience, but one that pales in comparison to the challenges faced by those living with cancer and the families standing beside them.
I’ll be putting myself through this challenge to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan and help them continue the incredible work they do.
Between now and September, I’m hoping to take on a few more challenges along the way, all in aid of this fantastic cause. I’ll share more details as things develop, so keep an eye out!
If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, every contribution will make a difference. If you can’t donate, sharing this post would mean just as much in helping spread the word.
THIS ONE’S PERSONAL. THIS ONE’S FOR FAMILY. AND THIS ONE’S FOR EVERYONE AFFECTED BY CANCER. 💚
Thank you all for your support. It genuinely means a lot.
