The CSJ is fundraising for a bench at the Hospital of St Cross in Winchester as a place for pilgrims to rest and reflect along the Camino Inglés after receiving the Wayfarer’s Dole.

Join us on St James' Day (Saturday 25th July 2026) for our Sponsored Walk in Winchester or donate.

The walk covers roughly 6 1/2 miles and begins at Winchester Cathedral at 10:30am.

- Start at Winchester Cathedral

- Progress via Winchester City Museum to St Bartholomew's Church to see the mouteira

- Proceed via Hyde Abbey and its garden to the city centre for a coffee break

- Climb the hill, giving good views over Winchester and St Cross. (There is an alternative route for those not wishing to tackle the hill).

- Continue through the meadows to St Cross Hospital to see where the bench will be positioned

- Continue back to the city centre

It is suggested walkers either bring a picnic lunch or enjoy a meal in Winchester after the walk.
