THE ROUTE

For those starting from Alderley Edge

Start walking from the junction of Chorley Hall Lane and Green Lane at around 10.15am. Head south up Green Lane and pass through Pearson’s tomato farm following the footpath signs to Walton farm where we turn left and go over the railway bridge. Cross Welsh Row and continue to follow the path across fields and Sand Lane to St. Mary’s, Nether Alderley. This stretch should take about 40 mins. We will visit the newly refurbished village hall and have some light refreshments. Some walkers may wish to visit St Mary’s.

We then leave by the vehicular exit and turn right onto the Alderley-Congleton main road. Turn left at traffic lights into Alderley Park and left again to follow the main track round the lake. Ignore turnings to subsidiary tracks and take a major left into Hocker Lane. Turn left and continue walking into Bradford Lane as far as the modernist house on the left. Cross over the stile opposite and follow the path round and then turn left into Artists Lane. A little way down and just before reaching the main road cross over the stile on the right hand side and cross the field into White Barn Road. From here, please make your best way home.

For those starting from St Catherine’s

Please make your way to St Mary’s and meet up at around 11:00am, then please see above for joint return as far as Hocker Lane where you will turn right and then right again at the crossroads.
