Story
We’re really excited (and a bit nervous!) to be fundraising for Juvenile Arthritis Research (JAR). Our daughter Clara was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis just after her third birthday, and since then she’s had two surgeries to treat inflammation in her joints. She now relies on immune-suppressing medication to manage her condition and, thankfully, is currently in medicated remission.
Juvenile arthritis is a painful autoimmune disease, and there’s still no cure. JAR is working to change that. They fund vital research and work closely with leading researchers, clinicians, academics and partner organisations around the world to better understand the disease, improve treatments, and (hopefully) bring juvenile arthritis to an end. By supporting this fundraiser, you’re helping to give children like Clara the chance of a future with less pain and fewer lifelong medications.
To support this incredible work, we’re taking on the Ultra Challenge Lake District 100km hike — a long and demanding trek through some of the UK’s most beautiful (and toughest!) terrain. It’s a huge physical and mental challenge, but one we’re proud to take on in the hope it will raise awareness and funds to help change young lives.
