Story
Where it started...
This innovative and popular initiative, first began in August 2023 at Picture House Green, Leiston, a housing development we are building in partnership with Flagship Homes.
After its initial success Adrian moved on to multiple other sites including Bowlers Green in Hopton, built in partnership with Repton Developments, where he combined the event with a thank you talk in response to the site being nominated for the National Health & Safety Awards.
He revived the event in the build up to Mental Health Awareness week in hopes of providing a safe & welcoming environment for staff both on site and office based to come along, enjoy a home cooked curry and talk about everything from mental health to their home life.
Adrian has cooked over 240 portions of curry since he began back in August 2023 and hopes the event can continue, visiting new sites across East Anglia and providing a listening ear and mental health support to anyone who needs it.
This year
The focus has been to raise funds for the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity using the Curry & Chat days to signpost those in need to the charity as well as to promote the work they do. The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity is the only charity that provides emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing support to the construction community and their families.
Adrian said:
‘’The main reason I have been doing this is because it gets people to talk, once people start to smell the onions and garlic cooking, they pop their heads in the canteen to see what’s going on. A lot of them can’t believe what is happening as this sort of event has never been done before. I think it is slowly breaking down the barriers of communication and getting people to talk. Nearly everyone likes curry, so Curry and Chat seems to work.’’
Please donate whatever you can to help support this amazing charity, and to allow Adrian to continue with this initiative across all our developments.
