Team: Team fundraising for Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust

Channel Swim · 20 July 2027

As part of our 200th anniversary, we are proud to support Addenbrookes Charitable Trust, fundraising money for the new Cambridge Children’s Hospital as part of our commitment to the generations of the future.

Story

In July 2027, our Cambridge University Alumni and Student team will attempt a relay crossing of the English Channel — a 10–18 hour effort through cold, unpredictable water that requires months of preparation, cold‑water acclimatisation and a qualifying swim in sub‑15.5°C conditions. It’s a demanding challenge, but one we’re taking on to support Addenbrooke’s Children’s Hospital.

Addenbrooke’s Children’s Hospital urgently needs philanthropic support to equip its new paediatric facility with items that go far beyond a standard NHS build — things that directly improve a child’s comfort, care, and recovery. Donations help provide essentials like parent beds so families can stay overnight, sensory and play‑therapy equipment, specialist mobility aids, and child‑friendly clinical tools that make procedures less frightening. These are the items that transform a hospital stay, and they only happen if people step forward to fund them.

Your support genuinely changes what is possible — for young patients, for their families, and for the Cambridge athletes who will carry this tradition forward. Every contribution strengthens both missions and helps bring this crossing to life.
