We provide outdoor activities to provide social development for young people and their families.

Story

Laburnum Boat Club provides opportunities for the personal development of young people and their families in the Hackney, London community through participation in a range of water-based activities. Over the last twelve months CVC Credit was able to witness the impact of the Boat Club on young people at first hand. We donated our time via a day of tidy up jobs last Autumn and conducted an employability workshop in April this year.

During our conversations with the Laburnum staff, we learned the significant impact that the youth club provides for young adults, especially during the school holiday periods. The community and activities help young adults with education/ work prospects. In addition Laburnum Boat Club is able to look after children / teenagers with disabilities and autism. In essence, it keeps the young from off the streets engaged in positive activities.

To cover the costs of the staff, facilities and meals the Boat Club charges youngsters £5 per visit (the club raises c. £17k in total per year from entrance fees). This sparked the idea of the fund raiser, given the current cost of living crisis. The goal is to raise enough funds to cover the admission cost for one year. A worthwhile cause especially given the current cost of living crisis in the UK.

We would be very thankful for your kind contributions.
