Story
WHAT ARE WE DOING?
On 10th of June we are cycling from east London to west London and back to raise money for Children of Rwanda. But here's the catch: we are doing it on Santander bikes and going along London canals! The route is over 40km.
WHO IS TAKING PART?
Camille White (Chair of UK Trustees), Fiona Clarke (UK Trustee) and friends of Children of Rwanda.
WHY ARE WE DOING IT?
We are fundraising for Children of Rwanda, an incredible grassroots charity operating in Western Rwanda. In this region, thousands of children are unable to attend school as their families can't afford the cost of schooling. Children of Rwanda is a registered NGO that enables children to return to class and benefit from their universal right to an education in a sustainable way by working with their parents to increase their household income enough to cover the costs of schooling without relying on external help.
Children of Rwanda have also just started a project addressing period poverty. Period poverty affects thousands of women and girls in the community in Western Rwanda. This project aims to bring sustainable and affordable access to reusable sanitary pads. This will be life-changing for so many in the community as it means women and girls will no longer miss out on school or work when they have their periods.
Children of Rwanda is a very small charity so donations make a huge difference! You can see more about our work here: https://www.childrenofrwanda.org/
