Since 1885, thanks to the public's support, we continue to provide welfare and wellbeing assistance tailored to our Armed Forces community. We know and understand the unique demands of service life, whether in the UK or overseas, and in times of need, we help to enable the Forces family to thrive.

Story

In March 2023, Rob Hughes, Brad Tallett and Brad Wright, from Joint Helicopter Support Squadron (JHSS), at RAF Benson, will take on the challenge of cycling 1200 miles from Lands End in Cornwall, all the way to John O’Groats up in Scotland. We are aiming to complete the challenge in two and a half weeks.

We will be supported along the way by Jack Waller and Ali Mechergui who will help with all the planning for each day and keeping us going throughout.

We’ve decided to take on this mammoth challenge in an effort to raise as much money as possible for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. SSAFA provides lifelong support for soldiers, sailors and airmen of the British Armed Forces.

Any support you can offer would be massively appreciated, all donations no matter how small could make a huge difference to somebodies life.

None of us are experienced cyclists which should make this very interesting, however months of arduous training has taken place in preparation for the event. However, what we lack in experience, we more than make up for in enthusiasm.

If you’d like to support us in other ways such as any offers of accommodation along the route or help with training please message one of us directly, as I said above, any support is hugely appreciated.

Thanks!
