Story

🚴‍♂️ Eight Riders, One Mission: 500km for Healthcare in Jaffna

Hope Builds Lives

In February 2026, our team of Eight friends will cycle 500km across Sri Lanka in just 5 days as part of the Trek4Ceylon Charity Ride. We’re not just riding for the challenge – we’re riding to bring hope to Jaffna by helping rebuild St Luke’s Methodist Hospital, a lifeline for communities that have endured years of war and hardship.

Why St Luke’s Methodist Hospital?

Established in 1901, St Luke’s Hospital was once a cornerstone of healthcare in Jaffna, offering inpatient and outpatient care, maternity services, and dental care. But decades of civil war left the hospital in ruins. Today, it operates out of a single partially renovated room, offering just two hours of consultancy per weekday.

The Methodist Mission is determined to restore this hospital to its full potential, but they need help. Funds raised through Trek4Ceylon will go directly towards:

Renovating Outpatient Dacilities

- Equipping consultancy rooms

- Expanding services for maternity care, paediatrics, dental care, and rehabilitation

- This project isn’t just about rebuilding a hospital – it’s about rebuilding lives. Hope Builds Lives, and together, we can bring hope to a community that needs it most.

The Challenge: 500km in 5 Days

We’ll cycle through Sri Lanka’s most stunning landscapes and historic landmarks:

- Day 1: Colombo to Galle – a city rich in history and home to a World Heritage Site

- Day 2: Galle to Hambantota – riding along the beautiful southern coastline

- Day 3: Hambantota to Dambulla – with an optional night-time cycle for the adventurous

- Day 4: Dambulla to Elephant Pass – the Gateway to Jaffna

- Day 5: Elephant Pass to St Luke’s Methodist Hospital, Puttur – the heart of our mission

Why This Matters

Before Trek4Ceylon’s involvement, St Luke’s Hospital was barely operational. Thanks to previous rides, groundwork has been laid to begin restoring the hospital. But there’s still much work to be done.

This is where we come in – and where you can help. Together, we can ensure that St Luke’s Hospital becomes a fully functioning medical facility once again, serving the people of Jaffna with the care and dignity they deserve.

Hope Builds Lives

This isn’t just our ride – it’s a mission to bring hope to Jaffna. Whether you donate, share, or cheer us on, every action helps bring us closer to our goal.

Let’s pedal for progress and prove that Hope Builds Lives.

Donate now and be part of the change.

Thank you for your support!
