Cycle the Tweed for Farmstrong Scotland

SGRPID Galashiels Area Office is raising money for Farmstrong Scotland

Cycle the Tweed for Farmstrong Scotland - 100mile nonstop static bicycle ride · 14 May 2026

We are a wellbeing initiative who support farmers, crofters and the agricultural community to manage the ups and downs of farming & crofting. A peer-to-peer led programme, we share real-life stories and resources, supported by scientific information, generating better wellbeing, for better business.

Story

Far too many of us are affected by adverse mental health issues, either directly or through family and friends. Often from previously unknown and undiagnosed conditions. This can be particularly prevalent amongst the agricultural and crofting community where isolation, lone working and the day to day pressures of running a farm or croft can create insidious stress. Farmstrong Scotland is an initiative set up to help the well being of this community. Inspired by a presentation from Farmstong Scotland’s Community Engagement Specialist - Clare Dickson – on the work of Farmstrong, we (the staff, at SGRPIDs Galashiels area office) decided to organise a fundraising event to support this charity. On the 14th May we will attempt a non-stop static bicycle ride equivalent to the 100 mile length of the Tweed. All donations will be gratefully received by Farmstrong Scotland where it will be put to great use. Thank you. https://www.farmstrongscotland.org.uk/
