Story
Why I’m riding my bike to the bottom of the world.
Hello, my name is Wayne Exley & my aim is to raise funds for Barnsley Hospice.I hope to raise money in the name of my sister-in-law Patricia Exley and my friend Howard Jackson who both received excellent care at the hospice before sadly dying from cancer.
Both Patricia & Howard were loving, caring, kind and generous people who sadly had their lives cut short. Patricia & Howard were part of loving families & they will miss out on seeing their grandchildren grow up. They are greatly missed by their families & friends. Nevertheless, they will never be forgotten by the people who knew them & loved them.
We are very grateful for the care & support that was provided by Barnsley Hospice. Fundraising for them is only one way we can say thank you for caring.
My fundraising challenge is to cycle from Santiago de Chile to Ushuaia in Argentina which is the southern most city in the world. I will ride south from Santiago zigzagging across the Andes mountains & riding a few iconic roads. I look forward to riding the route of the seven lakes in Argentina & the famous Carretera Austral in Chile. I will cross the Straits of Magellan onto Tierra del Fuego & battle the Patagonian winds down to Ushuaia.
I will start the ride in December 2023 & finish in March 2024. I plan to send updates to my Justgiving page & the Barnsley Hospice website as I prepare for the trip and during the ride.
I hope that you will join me on my fundraiser ride & more importantly you will make a donation on my Justgiving page for Barnsley Hospice in memory of Patricia & Howard.
I would like to thank you in advance for your donation. If you cannot make a donation in these difficult economic times come along for the ride.
Please feel free to share my fundraising page with your family, friends & also your social media pages and contacts so that we can maximise the fundraising effort.
Thank you for reading about this challenge & especially for sharing it with everyone you know. Many thanks & any help you can give me is really appreciated.
Please watch out for my next update on my Justgiving page or on the Barnsley Hospice website.
Wayne Exley.
