Story
This summer I'll be cycling 320 miles across Scotland to raise money for SCOTLAND: The Big Picture. I'll be doing it solo and self-supported, carrying everything I need on my bike.
On the way I'll be visiting partner sites from the charity's Northwoods Rewilding Network, seeing first hand the brilliant work being carried out with SBP's support to restore nature - and, hopefully, I'll get to meet some of the dedicated and passionate people that stand behind it.
Why did I choose them? Well, SBP's focus on making rewilding happen with practical expertise, positive storytelling, and engaging events is a powerful narrative in the face of seemingly endless negative news about the state of nature and the climate. We know we are facing a crisis; SBP focuses on building a vision - and the reality - of what a solution might look like.
And why cycling? If you know me, you'll know bikes have become almost the entire basis for my personality. If I can do a challenge on a bike, fetch me my Lycra and my cleats and I'll be there. But I also believe in finding low carbon, active ways to travel wherever possible: ditch the car, get some wet weather gear on (it is Scotland, after all) and get outdoors.
Check out my route below, and I'll be sharing updates in the run-up and during the ride itself on my Instagram.
