AJ Bell Great Manchester Run 10K 2026 · 31 May 2026 ·

Four core values underpin our work in Kibera. We believe that: • Education is the only sustainable route out of poverty; • Empowerment is achieved through education; • Children need to be adequately fed to learn effectively; • Impact is multiplied by strong community collaboration.

Story

Running Barefoot (at 62yrs)

for Kibera's Future Leaders

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 31st May 2026, I completed the Manchester 10K barefoot.

AGAIN! on 1st July 2026, I will run Tatton Part 10K.

I set myself a running target and, by God's grace, I achieved it. But something even more significant happened: together, we reached and surpassed the fundraising target.

That achievement belongs to every person who donated, shared the story, prayed, encouraged, or ran alongside us. Thank you.

Yet the journey is far from over.

What began as a single barefoot 10K has now become a wider challenge. I will be undertaking additional 10K runs and fundraising events in the coming weeks as we continue to support and expand the work of Kanzi in Kibera, Nairobi.

Through Kanzi Kibera Friends (UK Charity) and Kanzi Kenya Foundation, we currently provide hot school meals for approximately 600 children every school day. For many of these children, that meal is the only guaranteed meal they will receive that day.

But Kanzi is about more than food. The word Kanzi means "hidden treasure." We believe every child carries God-given potential and deserves the opportunity not merely to survive, but to thrive and become a future leader in their community. The lunch programme opens the door to education, mentorship, discipleship, personal development, and hope.

As more schools and families ask for help, the need continues to grow faster than our resources.

Your Support Helps To:

Provide daily hot meals for vulnerable children.

Expand the lunch programme to reach more children.

Support education, mentoring, and leadership development.

Sustain the work of the Kanzi Resource Centre in Kibera.

Help children move from survival to leadership.

Why Barefoot?

Many of the children we serve walk barefoot, not as a challenge, but as a reality. Running barefoot is my way of standing in solidarity with them and drawing attention to their story. It is a reminder that while poverty may define a child's circumstances, it should never define their future.

Join the Journey

Whether you donate, share this page, pray for the work, or even join one of the upcoming runs, you become part of a story that is helping transform lives.

Every pound given becomes more than a meal.

It becomes an investment in a child's future.

Thank you for helping us turn open hearts into opportunity, barefoot steps into hope, and hidden treasures into future leaders.

"A hungry child cannot learn. A valued child can dream. A supported child can lead." – Kanzi Kibera Friends
