Story

Doddie's Triple Crown is the 2026 edition of Rob Wainwright's epic annual cycling challenge to raise funds for My Name'5 Doddie Foundation.

The challenge will take place from Tuesday 10th - Friday 13th March and the teams will cover 800 miles over four days - arriving in Dublin the evening before Scotland take on Ireland at the Aviva Stadium.

The event is led by former Scotland rugby captain Rob Wainwright and raises funds for the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, established in honour of rugby legend Doddie Weir.

Doddie faced Motor Neurone Disease (MND) with remarkable courage and determination. MND is a devastating, life-shortening condition that progressively affects the brain and nervous system, robbing people of mobility, independence, and eventually the ability to communicate. There is still no cure.

The Foundation is funding cutting-edge research, supporting families living with MND, and campaigning to accelerate progress toward effective treatments. Every pound raised genuinely moves the dial.

Alongside two close cycling friends, and partnering with Cazenove Capital (Schroders), I will ride:

• Day 1: Melrose to Leeds

• Day 2: Leeds to Gloucester

• Day 3: Gloucester to Pembroke (overnight ferry to Ireland)

• Day 4: Rosslare to Dublin

It will be physically demanding and mentally stretching — but insignificant compared to the daily reality faced by those living with MND.

Thank you in advance for your support — it truly means a great deal. With appreciation.
