We’re Breast Cancer Now, the charity that’s steered by world-class research and powered by life-changing care. We’re here for anyone affected by breast cancer, the whole way through, providing support for today and hope for the future. By 2050, we believe everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live – and be supported to live well. But we need to act now.

Story

Over the years I've done many fundraising challenges to raise money for charities I'm passionate about - and now into my early 60's, I'm about to undertake my BIGGEST challenge yet.... 'The POWER of 10'

On 13th Sept, with 3 other cyclists from work, (plus 2 colleagues in a support vehicle) we will set of from Devizes in Wiltshire with the aim of visiting 10 DS Smith sites in UK, France & Belgium in 10 DAYS, and covering an incredible 1000 MILES!!! (Our own Tour de France)

Why are we doing such a crazy challenge you might ask... most of you will know that I sadly lost my daughter Kristal to Breast Cancer in January 2023 at the tender age of 38, so it came as a shock to learn that a friend and colleague from work (Sue), had received the devastating news that her breast cancer had returned after 6 years and had spread to her liver and bones. As you can imagine this brought it all back to me the pain and suffering Kristal went through, which once again motivated me to do something positive to help Sue and others suffering with Breast Cancer. Sue has been an inspiration to us all, demonstrating remarkable strength and resilience.

Over the past two years of undertaking our cycling challenges, Sue has been a vital part of our team, driving the support vehicle and cheering us on. This time, (despite undergoing treatment), she will join us once again on this epic adventure, supporting us every pedal of the way! So in honour to Sue and the challenge she's facing, we wanted to go 'BIG' and do an enormous challenge of our own, with the aim of raising as much as we can for 'Breast Cancer Now'.

The full enormity of our challenge can be seen below:

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the world. Over 55,000 people are diagnosed every year in the UK alone. Each one will face challenging treatment regimes. Gruelling side effects. Uncertainty, anxiety and fear.

Breast Cancer Now's vision is that by 2050, everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live – and be supported to live well, but to make that happen, they need our support!

I invite you to join me in making a difference. My target is to raise £2,000 (towards our team target of £12,000) for 'Breast Cancer Now', and your generous contributions will help us reach this goal.
