Story
I first ran the LLHM in 2024 having been utterly blown away by the commitment and generosity of our supporters running the previous year. It felt only right that I should join in and run it too! I’m doing it again this year for the same reason. We are incredibly lucky to have so many people prepared to do this for us, sometimes year after year and I hope they enjoy the day as much as I know I will (she says through gritted teeth).
It is a rare thing to hear people talk positively about our sector but I am immensely proud of RASASC Guildford and the work we do to support survivors of rape and sexual abuse across Surrey. While sexual harm itself deserves every last bit of condemnation we can throw at it, the support sector does not. People who have come through our services frequently feedback that our specialist support allows them to move on with their lives, sometimes after years of bouncing around other services unable to meet their needs.
Our staff and volunteers deliver expert, evidence-based services, promoting the best possible outcomes for survivors. All we want to do at RASASC is more - more of what we are already doing because what we do works. The only thing stopping us having the reach and scale we need to support more people is not having the resources to do this.
If you are able to support us, anything you give will genuinely make a difference, as the funds raised in this way go into an unrestricted ‘pot’, meaning we can allocate the money where it is needed most. Having this flexibility is the most impactful and sensible approach. It is also essential if we are to weather the current unprecedented insecurity and uncertainty that organisations like ours are facing due to the lack of clarity about the direction of the sexual violence support sector in the next few years.
Thank you so much!
