Story
I’m taking part in Starlight Hike this year - walking under the stars to help make sure more people get the expert care and support they deserve at the end of their life.
As some of my close friends would know I lost my dad 19 years ago when I was 3 months old due to bone cancer. I have lived my life without him but also feeling like I knew him because of all the stories that my family have told me about him, especially my mum who is constantly reminding me how much I look like him. It is a devastating thing to have a loved one taken away from you knowing they were in pain but knowing that there are hospices like Sue Ryder makes it that bit easier to think that they were at ease. While I do this walk I will also be thinking of my grandad (my dad’s dad)who we sadly lost in March this year I had many funny and amazing moments with my grandad and it was a sudden shock to lose him also to cancer, I like to imagine that my dad and my grandad are finally reunited and they are looking down on me and my family. Sue Ryder is important to me and my family as this is where my dad was in his last days alive and I think it is so important that even though your in pain and leaving your loved ones that everyone deserves the care they need and to feel at peace
If you’re able to sponsor me, you’ll be helping make every step count — so more people can get the expert care and support they deserve when it matters most. Thank you so much for supporting me.
