Hello everyone!

On August 1st I am embarking on the epic challenge of trekking across Nepals' mighty Himalayas, West to East, on the Great Himalaya Trail (high route). This almighty adventure includes traversing 1700km of Nepals magnificent mountains, tackling 15 over 5000m passes and some of the worlds more remote and unforgiving terrain. I will be staying in a mix of local home stays, tea houses and my trusty tent! I will be carrying all my kit and hope to cross border to border in under 90 days!

Through taking on this challenge, I am hoping to raise money for the awesome Gurkha Welfare Trust. The GWT work incredibly hard to ensure that Gurkha veterans, their widows and their wider communities are able to live with dignity. This is achieved primarily through the provision of financial, medical and community aid in Nepal. GWT operate through 20 Area Welfare Centres spread across traditional Gurkha recruiting areas. In the UK, in conjunction with other service charities and government bodies GWT offer advice and support to help the thousands of retired Gurkhas and their families who choose to settle here.

I have been extremely fortunate to grow up amongst the Gurkha pariwar including now living in Kathmandu. Supporting all the life changing and essential work that the GWT do is therefore hugely important to me and will certainly be the motivation on those tougher high altitude passes and throughout!

I am hugely excited to attempt such a challenge but most importantly cannot wait to be amongst the magnificent people and hills of Nepal for the next few months as well as raise some money for such an important charity.
