Story

As some of you may be aware, a little over a month ago my dad was a seemingly fit and healthy 63-year-old man. He went into hospital for something unrelated, and left under the palliative care of the MacMillan team, after heartbreakingly being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, which has spread to his liver.

A diagnosis like this comes with huge emotional distress as you can imagine, and the nurses who are making him comfortable have been nothing short of incredible in supporting him through this journey. They have shown empathy and care, and have been a lifeline to our family through these hard times. Their support has made a world of difference to us and we want to give back as a family, in any way that we can 🤍

Those that know my dad will know that Football has always bought joy to his life. From a young age playing grassroots football, to ending up as a goalie for his local team. He has always been an avid Everton fan for as long as I can remember, but being a Suffolk boy born and bred, Ipswich Town are his local team and also have a place in his heart! So, it seems naturally fitting that on 19th October 2024, when Town host the Toffees at home for the first time since 2001, my husband Lee has vowed to run the distance from our home to Portman Road in a bid to raise money for this special charity. He will be accompanied by my brother, Reuben, on his bike who will be equipped with plenty of water and words of support, and both of them will finish their journey at the stadium in time for kick off and a pint of something well deserved! ⚽️ this is a 12.8 mile journey, a little short of a half marathon, in honour of our wonderful Dad!

Today, Lee is starting 10 weeks of intensive training to get him over that finish line, whilst we pray with fingers crossed that Dad is able to watch the game and see the victory on the day!

It breaks our hearts to see our Dad suffer every day, and as our time with him grows shorter we are grateful for small opportunities like these to show him how many people love and care, and are fully behind him every step of this journey ❤️

I am asking for your support in this endeavour. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer. Together we can make a difference, and honour my Dad and his fighting spirit.

Thank you all for your love and generosity. Let’s support Lee to run for the love of football, and for the love of my Dad. ❤️
