The Great North Run is the world’s biggest half marathon, with more than 57,000 runners pounding the streets of Newcastle. The 13.1-mile course runs from Newcastle upon Tyne to South Shields and attracts many world-class athletes.

Story

I will be running The Great North Run on the 13th September in memory of our great friend Harry who we sadly lost on October the 14th 2025 at the age of 28. He was a great friend to many including myself and he will always be remembered for the pure joy and happiness he brought to all of our lives and he truly was the greatest friend you could ask for.

Harry had no underlying health issues or symptoms before we sadly lost him, just complaints of chest pains which resulted in what we believe was a cardiac shock.

Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions. With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young. By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions. See how your support can help by visiting www.c-r-y.org.uk.
