#BeMoreRuby fundraiser to provide heart screenings for young people

Dale Lockwood is raising money for Cardiac Risk in the Young
In memory of Ruby Lockwood

Day 3 & 4 Heart Screening Days for 14-35 Year Olds · 17 July 2027

Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

Ruby was cruelly taken from us in October 2023 at just 31 years old. Her death was caused by an undiagnosed genetic heart condition called Sudden arrhythmic death syndrome (SADS). The stark reality is many victims of this disease die far too young and with simple screenings and diagnosis, many of these deaths can be prevented.

All funds raised are specifically ringfenced to finance private heart screenings of 14-35 year olds in West Yorkshire.

Just £68 screens a young persons heart for potentially life threatening conditiond which are highlighted in 80% of cases.

£6800 screens 100 young people with the aim to raise enough to screen 200 ypung people in Summer 2026.

Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions.

With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young.

By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions.
