Story
To coincide with the RNLI bicentennial and my year as President of Rotary Club of Stourbridge I have walked 200 miles across the year between 13 RNLI stations. The walk began on July 27th, 2023 and continued in regular stages throughout late summer, autumn and winter 2023-2024. I have walked from Treaddur Bay RNLI via Holyhead RNLI and Cemaes Bay to Moelfre RNLI and Beaumaris RNLI and then to Menai Bridge. Then via Caernarfon and the Llŷn Peninsula to Porthdinllaen RNLI. Then Abersoch to Criccieth via Pwllheli and Barmouth to Aberdyfi. Onwards to Borth and Aberystwyth with the final section in New Quay for the anniversary day, 4th March 2024!
Stourbridge Rotary Club and Stourbridge RNLI both have a long association with New Quay, where the recently retired Mersey class vessel, was funded by a legacy from Stourbridge industrialist Frank Clifford. The 'Frank and Lena Clifford of Stourbridge' had been on station at New Quay since 1992. Frank was President of the Rotary Club from 1966-1967.
Main picture is with Holyhead coxswain, Tony Price, after the first leg of the walk from Treaddur Bay to Holyhead. Other pictures highlight the rest of the walk.
