Hi, I'm Dallas King. A former manager and projectionist of The Belmont Cinema, and one of the current Trustees working towards the reimagining, refurbishment, and reopening of Aberdeen's only independent cinema.

I am currently fundraising for a specific aspect of the project: The preservation of traditional film presentation. In particular, the ability to screen 70mm.

The Belmont is lucky enough to be one of just a few cinemas in the UK with a Century JJ 35/70 projector, capable of screening both 35mm and 70mm film.

The cinema screened 35mm prints until 2018, but it has been over twenty years since it screened a 70mm print.

As part of the heritage project to reopen the cinema, we have already serviced the projector and can run 35mm prints, but there is still work to do to allow us to project 70mm.

Once this work is complete, The Belmont will be the only cinema in Scotland outside Glasgow and Edinburgh to show both 35mm and 70mm.

The projected cost of the work, pun intended, is around £4000. I have already raised £1750 by participating in two Kilt Walks, and will be actively fundraising to reach my target over the next few months.
