Story

Dear Family, Friends, and Supporters,

Our hearts were shattered in September 2022 when our amazing Dad received the devastating diagnosis of a brain tumour. The news sent shockwaves through our family, leaving us feeling lost and overwhelmed. But during the fear and uncertainty, one thing remained unwavering: Dad’s incredible resilience.

Throughout this ongoing journey, Mum has never left his side, her presence alone providing him with strength and courage. Her love and determination mirrored his own, giving him the strength to face each day with bravery and hope.

Through the darkest of days, St George’s Hospital became our sanctuary of hope. If it weren’t for the support and expertise of the exceptional team at St George’s, Dad wouldn’t be here today. Their compassionate care not only treated Dad’s illness but also lifted our spirits and carried us through our deepest fears.

But we didn’t walk this journey alone. It was the love and support of our family and friends that provided us with the strength and courage to face each day. Their comforting presence, encouraging words, and selfless acts of kindness were the pillars upon which we leaned upon when our own strength faltered.

Now, inspired by Dad’s determination and the compassion we experienced, myself, my partner Lauren, Dads wife our Mum Julie, Dads best friend Bruce and brother-in-law John are embarking on a daring challenge: an abseil from Guildford Cathedral on June 8th, 2024. Our mission is twofold: to honour Dad’s courageous journey and to raise funds for vital equipment—a Stealth Autoguide Robotics Guidance Platform—for the Neurology Department. This state-of-the-art technology will not only enhance patient care but also serve as a beacon of hope for those facing the same adversity.

All donations will also go towards creating a peaceful oasis—a ‘Forest in the Sky Garden’—to provide solace and comfort for patients and families navigating their own journeys through illness and adversity.

With your support, we can transform hardship into healing and despair into hope. Your compassion and generosity will make a huge difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Sián would have also loved to have taken part in the abseil but is excitingly expecting. She will be there on the day alongside Dad, little Freddie and other family and friends. So please feel free to come down and support on the day. Please follow the link on the page for details.

Thank you for being part of our journey and for standing by us with your love and support. Hope to see you on the 8th of June x.
