This April 26th I will be taking on the Stratford Marathon in support of Mind. I have chosen to support this charity because mental health affects so many people in ways we cant always see and no one should have to struggle alone. Mind provides support and services for people struggling with mental health problems and works to ensure that everyone has access to the help they need.

Training for this marathon has been one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever set myself. Sore knees, the cold and wet weather, long runs when I’d rather stay in bed and pushing through when motivation is low have all become apart of the journey, but every step is a reminder of why I am doing this.

This challenge is deeply personal to me. Like many familes, mine has been impacted by mental health struggles and its something that has changed me and the way I see the world. I know how important it is to have support during difficult times and that is what will keep me going when the run gets tough. Running 26 miles feels small in comparison to the strength people show when facing their own battles, but if it can help raise awareness and help get support for people who may be suffering then every mile will be worth it.
