I've rather whimsically signed up for the British Heart Foundation London to Brighton Bike Ride. 61 miles of gravelly/muddy/puddly trails which I'm only starting to appreciate will take 6+ hours and be accompanied by plenty of palm bruising, blisters and saddle sore, followed by days of aching muscles!

As a child I liked mountain biking and dabbled in it at secondary school age. I drifted away from it in adulthood but I recently started getting more interested in it again as my daughters start to ride, but have little time or energy for any exercise these days with two young kids! So I fear that I am biting off way more than I can chew!

Yet, here I am, asking for your support, and for a great cause! The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target.
