Story

Hounds for Heroes provides specially trained assistance dogs to injured and disabled personnel of HM Armed Forces and Emergency Services. We aim to provide help and practical support leading to an enhanced quality of life.

I am part of Team Raleigh who are raising money to help fund and support Raleigh, a Golden retriever.

Raleigh is now 6 years old and is a fully trained assistance dog. To raise money I have challenged myself to complete a number of running events over the next 12 months.

Before the end of the year and during December I have organised a 12 days of Christmas 🎄 running challenge. I am trying to run 10km for 12 times in consecutive days. There are 12 of us who have taken on the challenge - all good friends and shipmates who want to help me raise more money for Raleigh and the other dogs.

My hardest challenge is the Dartmoor Discovery ultra marathon, a very hilly ultra of 32 miles. It will be the longest distance I have ever run and it’s the longest road race in the UK.

In March I have a charity place in the Bath half marathon.

In April I am running in the Dartmoor marathon which returns after 30 years.

Following that I have 4 half marathons planned - Saltash, Redditch, Birmingham and Solihull.

In August I am planning to run a trail ultra marathon over Dartmoor (32 miles).

I am also hoping to take part in the York marathon in October with an Army friend who becomes a veteran next year.

Thank you kindly for all your support and any donations.

As always I am extremely grateful.
