Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In March 2026 I shall embark on an epic and meaningful journey. The combination of extreme conditions, remote terrain, and the physical demands of biking, skiing, and snowshoeing across three countries which will be truly inspiring. And doing it to support Kintail Mountain Rescue Team makes it even more powerful.

3 STAGES, 3 COUNTRIES, 3 WINTER SPORT DISCIPLINES A BRILLIANT ARCTIC ADVENTURE.

19 MILES (30 KM) ON BIKE + 13 MILES (21KM) ON SKI + 13 MILES (21 KM) ON FOOT

My adventure unfolds in the deep freeze of the Scandinavian north, well above the Arctic circle. The focus of the adventure is the 3 nations cairn – the spot where Norway, Sweden and Finland converge. The route will visit this point and I will use 3 different disciplines on the course – 1 each per stage of travel. 30km by bike and whilst this might not sound far, in deep snow and in temperatures down to – 20, then heading out on back country skis for 21km to Lake Saanajärvi and an overnight wilderness camp. Finally snow shoes setting my sights on the summit of the mighty Saana, the mountain which dominates the skyline above the village of Kilpisjarvi. It’s 21km to the 3 nations cairn for a glorious finish

I know this is going to be the biggest personal challenge mentally and physically I have ever committed to and in doing so hope to raise money for Kintail Mountain Rescue Team a local charitable organisation run entirely by volunteers. A team consisting of neighbours, friends and family. They deliver their public safety obligation in remote and mountainous environments on call 24 hours / 365 days of the year - Any Hour, Any Day, Any Weather

The team relies heavily on public donations to maintain their income Rescue operations in Kintail. They rely on ordinary members of the public making donations. The small population living in our area of operation means that donations from those living further afield are extremely important to their efforts to make this a safer place for locals and visitors alike.
