I'm going to walk / run / cycle over 100 miles in September to raise funds for Team McLean at CCLG: The Children & Young People’s Cancer Association.

My close friends of 40 years James McLean's youngest daughter is Helena who was diagnosed with a rare solid tumour in January 2021 when she was 10 years old. She had been a normal happy and healthy child who enjoyed playing netball, football, tennis, swimming, skateboarding and being with her friends.

Sadly, Helena had multiple relapses and died on 23rd December 2024, aged 14. Her treatment involved 18 rounds of chemotherapy, 3 major surgeries, 25 transfusions of blood/platelets, 6 general anaesthetics, 20 sessions of radiotherapy and 160 nights in hospital.

The family continue to support this amazing charity and I'd like to just do a little bit to raise money for such a good cause.
