Story
There are at least 122,000 people in the UK today who live in conditions of modern slavery, and more than 50 million globally. The Sophie Hayes Foundation is a charity that supports women survivors. Founded by Sophie Hayes 15 years ago, their core areas of work are:
1) 12-month employability programmes to help participants develop skills, prepare for and find work;
2) 6-week conversational English language lessons and practice to help survivors develop independence and confidence;
3) CREW (Creative Resilient Empowered Women) - a survivors' network and community of strength and support which runs workshops, panel discussions and gatherings throughout the year; and
4) Preventing Re-exploitation Research Report and Project
I signed up after my friend told me about the Charity and that they were looking for more runners at the Royal Parks Half Marathon. I looked into the work they do and feel that it is a cause I would like to get behind. I would like to support their impact with this fundraiser - please donate if you can! :)
